Welcome to the Morganton Service League
The purpose of the Service League is to foster interest among the members in the social, economic, educational, cultural and civic conditions of their volunteer services.
The Service League was formed in 1968 and has provided various volunteer and community services to Burke County over the past 42 years. New members are admitted in the fall and spring of each year. Criteria for admittance is residency in Morganton or Burke County and a willingness to commit a minimum of approximately 30 hours a year to volunteer activities and membership meetings. Our members are a varied group of women ranging in age from 20-50; with careers as teachers, doctors, nurses, counselors, business owners, architectural designers, law enforcement officials and full time mothers and wives. Membership meetings are held monthly on the evening of second Thursday of the month, September through May. The League maintains an Executive Board of 5 members, President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, there are opportunities to Chair Committees for various projects. The League provides services to Options, Burke United Christian Ministries, Appalachian Family Innovations and Historic Burke Foundation. MSL also has several In-League projects including The Prom Project, an annual Red Cross Blood Drive and the HOP 5k Race. Several "Social" events are also held during the year such as a Fall Harvest Dinner, Christmas Social, Spring Luncheon and Summer Social.
The Morganton Service League provides a great opportunity for those women interested in giving back to the community. It is also a great group in which to meet other women whether you are a newcomer to the Morganton area or have lived here your entire life.
